EMCI Canada Homestay
The best way to learn about the Canadian way
of life is to live in a Homestay with a
Canadian family. Living in a Canadian home
will help you to experience Canada in two
distinct ways that living on your own will
not.
First of all, living in a Homestay will help
you to improve your confidence speaking
English more rapidly than living on your own
because you will be able to practice
speaking everyday in the comfort of your own
home.
Secondly, living in a homestay will give you
the opportunity to learn about the daily
life of a Canadian family. You will be able
to share in the daily life of your family by
eating dinner with them each night and by
going out on family activities. The bonds
that develop between students and their
families are something that will stay with
you for the rest of your life. Homestay
offers you the chance to submerse yourself
in Canadian culture and to truly get to know
more about Canada.
All EMCI families have been carefully
screened and selected by EMCI
representatives for their interests and
friendliness. Their homes must be
comfortable, clean and be located in safe
neighbourhoods with convenient
transportation to downtown. All families
must also submit a criminal background check
of all the adults in the home. Our screening
process also involves a detailed
application, an in-home visit and an
interview.
All EMCI families have signed a contract
with us and we contact them regularly. We
also keep in touch with all of our homestay
students on a regular basis to make sure
that everyone is satisfied with their home.
Regular home visits and student surveys help
us to guarantee the quality of life you will
experience during your entire stay with an
EMCI homestay family.
